Thunderquill Update - August 2008

Thunder has been tapped to assistant direct and stage manage the upcoming play The Front Page.  Presented in conjunction with 100th anniversary of University of Missouri School of Journalism, the classic play by Ben Hecht and Charles MacArthur, hits the boards of the newly renovated Missouri Theatre of The Arts under the direction of Byron Scott with Lee Wilkins Black producing.

The stellar cast includes Charlie Wilkerson as reporter-on-the-run Hildy Johnson and Weldon Durham as his over-bearing and demanding editor and chief, who may actually turn out to be the devil.  Of the ladies lighting up the stage, there's Pamela Thomas as Hildy's neglected fiancé, Debbie Johnson as Hildy's equally abused future-mother-in-law, Molly Dodge as a long-abused reporter's wife, Sue Ellersieck as the only dame among a gang of pushy Mad Men of the Press and Christy Stockwell as the tortured and teased Clark Street Tart, Molly.  And in the wake of play's ongoing mayhem, Clara Stark is left to mop up the mess, as Jennie the abused cleaning lady.  (Are we starting to see a trend here?)

Miracle worker Thom Bauer, is pulling double duty and enduring ongoing mistreatment as both set-builder and reporter-on-the-make, Mr. McCue and we would like to extend much thanks and appreciation to our long-abused costumer Beth Key.  Also appearing in the large ensemble of talent, is Ben Hendrick, David Klachko, Gale Bullock, Craig Yager, Jim Yelton, Ian Young, Phil Tuttle, Cyrus Tague, Matt Diel, Micah Bacus and David Collins as the poor Mr. Pincus.  Rounding out the cast with truly endearing results, are the three Michaels, including Michael Scott, Mike Tuley and Michael Wilson, playing the tremendously abused escaped convict Earl Williams.  Considering all these charming factors, why continue to endure the abuse of this article, when you witness such beguiling mistreatment first-hand by attending a performance of The Front Page.  (Besides, we'll need reliable witnesses for the upcoming court case that is sure to follow.)  The Front Page opens September 11th with two performances and runs through the September 13th.
